Wedding and Marriage: Lifetime Bond and Highest Joy

Wedding is the highest form of celebration for two people united by love, respect and trust. It is a matter being planned and decided for a series and thorough preparation. Though different countries have different ways of celebrating marriage, one thing for sure is that to be wed means to vow yourself to another person.

Wedding means a lot of preparations from the very simple tasks and materials up to the stressful ceremony. Couples who are planning for a wedding often ask wedding favors or  professional assistance from wedding planners that eventually do more of the tasks to the ceremony. From wedding rehearsals, ceremony, reception up to the materials like flowers, gowns, wedding souvenirs through promotional products and others are all arranged and administered by wedding planners.

Wedding ceremony does not have to be luxurious to become successful but most importantly, meet all the needs to be married legally.

Different customs and traditions cover the beliefs about wedding and marriage as a whole are as follows:

1. Marriage is a lifetime pledge. Couple getting married make this pledge in front of their families, friends making them witnesses to the lifetime bond. This means, the pledge takes certain responsibilities to be both performed by the couple. Though marriage is always viewed as a sacred vow interlinked with happiness and joy, marriage needs to be worked out through lifetime process with love, trust and understanding as embodying factors.

2. According to the famous author JRR Tolkien’s letter to his son Michael, “Nearly all marriages, even happy ones, are mistakes: in the sense that almost certainly (in a more perfect world, or even with a little more care in this very imperfect one) both partners might be found more suitable mates. But the real soul-mate is the one you are actually married to.” The term “soul mate” connotes to most people as somebody to be with for a lifetime.

3. Sealed with a kiss. Almost every wedding tradition end with a kiss. A “kiss” symbolizes physical unity between two different individuals.

4. Marriage is a bridge that connects channels. Though different people have different reasons in getting married, a marital bond through wedding is the strongest bond that unites two different people, tribes, religions, or even countries. Since marriage is a sacred and a lifetime bond, it is as powerful as death. According to some, even death cannot perish the love and bond created by marriage because love does not only constitute physical interaction but spiritual and emotional connection that as long as there is a memory of love the bond continues endlessly.

5. Love is everything. Love does make the world goes down. It unites two extremely different individuals. It ceases pain and insecurities. Getting married or the wedding ceremony is the pronouncement of love that is treasured for a lifetime by two people united through pledge and promise.

Though wedding and marriage are viewed sacredly, many couples often end up to separation and divorce. The question on whether the two had loved each other or not may be the succeeding concern. Again, there are many reasons towards getting married but if they did have marry through the traditional one; they did love each other but only failed to take each other’s responsibilities to maintain their unity.
